wow... i had never even really looked at the pictures closely, but it does look like it could be a large gold spilo. i agree that a nice flank shot would be nice to make a positive id tho.
 
i'm also pretty sure that his old "rhom" was actually an eigenmanni, i had never seen pictures of it before and i just saw it as i was looking back through the threads looking for more pictures of the new gold

after looking back through this thread, there are actually some flank shots on page three and it definitely looks to be a gold mac. so ron the rhom was actually ron the eigenmanni and your new guy is a gold mac, and a big one at that.

i got fooled?
it took weeks for anyone on here to realise, i saw, i bought coz its a nice fish. ive been keeping piranha for all of 5 months

btw the worming thing worked really well with this mac aswell, he lost about 40 tapeworm after 3 days of the dose of meds i gave him
