He brought in 18 types of pikes, more Psittacus and Uaru Fernandezyezepi. None of the Ornatum and Atromaculatum he was supposed to get. I'd imagine still too dangerous to collect. I believe he is going back again in a couple of weeks and also going to Peru.

Bartoni and Grammodes are large jump up the aggression order, Bartoni are the meanest fish pound for pound in my opinion. All of the males I have owned have had serious attitude problems. One angry little fish!!!
Nice. Yeah, my juvies I have right now are rough on each other. I'm shooting to get 1 pair hopefully! It's been years since I kept Grammodes but I have a 10' tank for them. It always boils down to 'stupidity' when losing fish doesnt it? I've kicked myself plenty of times for not acting fast enough when the warning signs were there! Good mix of fish there. Good luck and get some full tank shots up.
Years ago, I had a 125 fill with PVC and flowerpots and my 12 2" grammodes turned into 1 2" grammodes in 2 days. The survivor is now my avatar.
The funny thing is he got along fine with just about everything else! Also, I've been able to mix grammies since with no more problems than with most other CA's.

That's why I'm HOPING a decent sized pair will get along. Stress on the HOPING!

I had a similar issue with Bartoni. I bought 8 to grow out for a pair. Had them in a heavily decorated 55g. They were doing well and the biggest was getting around 2". Came home one day after to work to a very darkly colored male guarding a small rock with eggs. 6 were dead and one was shredded and dying. I was shocked. They had never had more then a split fin or 2 with constant chasing but nothing serious. He has been an A-hole ever since to. Start fights with anything I try to put him with. SOB is in a 40g by himself just because he's a pain in the but.
I had 11 1" Bartoni from Don. I now have 3 through a combo of aggression and a bloat issue a while back. Weird because when I watch them I see no aggression at all. I guess the party starts when the lights go off!
I've got 10 Bartoni and a pair of 4" Grammodes on the way. We'll see what happens. New toys to play with!
