Hey yall I got a new spiney eels he’s currently about 14 or so enches long and about an inch in diameter he’s truly beautiful.. but! He incessantly tries to swim into the canisters outflow and he knocks it off and has scraped his head once.
Any idea on how to deter him from doing this and hurting himself.. He also bites the intake and heater he is quirky

I personally would cover the heater with a heater guard and mesh tied to the intake and outflow .

The filter is a fancy fluval one with a big cage on it so that’s already taken care of I will def need to find a way to put a mesh over that outflow

Provide some caves or hide out areas. Cover those holes with cut up mosquito nets.

Can you post a pic of your tank???

But i agree with kno4te kno4te eels need A LOT of hiding places to feel comfortable, if they dont have enough hiding spots, they will start finding one in places you dont want them hanging out in...
