New Flowerhorn

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Not to mention each pic in there is just a different fish with a similar look and pattern lol. If you look at the head and flowerline of each one everything is different between all of them. Not to mention the middle one is one that is slightly larger then the other 2 as well as having no red edging to the fins like the others. Also the last pic has a light filter on it to make lighter colors pop while making darker colors even darker in comparison.

They are obviously different fish as they look nothing alike (middle pic has red eyes). I don't think this is a ad/pic from CZ Aqua Products nor do I think they are tring to say that the 3 pictures are of the same fish. I believe the picture was to promote the fact that Take5 Thailand (one of the most well known breeders of high quality Kamfa) uses and promotes CZ Aqua Products.

Possible very possible. It just looked like a progression arc to me but that was probably me just seeing similarities between all 3 fish and going off of that.

please take out the sand
My grade AAA died because of sand. He got a small cut in his mouth because of it then he got a duck lip infection. That killed him in three days.I also take out the drift wood. Please learn from my mistake

But that could happen to any fish you keep regardless of specie. Also a FH is still a cichlid and most cichlids love to dig in the substrate, just because a fish is completely man made and born in captivity doesn't mean that it still doesn't have its wild instincts. Personally I use almost all kinds of substrate. Sand, gravel and stones, even in my FH tanks. Do they come with risks? Certainly but they also come with pro's too. I rarely have a bare bottom tank anymore, only time I do is only when I'm raising fry in that specific tank and that's just to make it easier cleaning the tank and keep an eye on how the fry are doing.

1. Sharp gravel/sand and dirftwood are issue because of being sharp.
2. Statisticaly we should not go by one case, someone can die in an car accident doesn't mean we all all should stop driving, we need to weigh pros of taking risk vs avoiding it.
3. Duck lip virus is more virulent at higher temperatures, better prevention could have been keeping tank between 78-82.

I appreciate your input. I love sand in my tank for a few reasons. One... I like the more natural look and think bare tanks are kind of boring. Two... my flowerhorns love playing in the sand and its fun to watch them rearrange their tanks. Three... I like that substrate holds more beneficial bacteria. I have seen too many folks losing or shocking their flowerhorns on here and Facebook from doing too large of water changes with no substrate and losing too much BB. I keep a very close eye on my fish and if the sand stops working for them and I I will change.
