New Tank. 300 Gallons!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My main question about the tank is wet/dry filtration, or submerged? It came with a trash bag full of bio balls which I plan to use alongside about 6 litres of pre-cycled matrix.

Personally for bio balls I like wet dry but it's totally up to you. You have so much media that I don't think you'll be able to tell a difference regardless of what you choose to do.

Is wet dry that much more efficient than submerged? Never set one up before. But! This tank came with custom drip trays so it should be easy.

I would say yes once you start getting to huge tanks and ponds. I have a 3,000 gallon koi pond that I switched over to wet dry bc my current system is only half the size of the original, and it has a bigger bio load capacity. If you want to have a very large bio load I'd say go for the wet dry. If not I'd stick to just submerging the media.

He sure did. He recommended we sleep in it one night before we put water in it to make sure the fish will be comfortable. Kids are awesome.

And I'll try to work some combo of wet dry with bio balls and submerged matrix. What I have seeded supports my bioload so I shouldn't have any cycling issues but I will have room to expand. If that makes sense.

I should also state that the bio balls are pretty poor for a submerged media. Might wanna go with the trickle system if you wanna use the bio balls.

Sounds good to me. Let us know when you get the big beauty set up!

Adults don't give us enough credit for awesome ideas.

Sweet tank. I'm tagging along for the build.
