New to Polypterus - Substrate Advice!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I would go for garnet red, if you can find something that has a little redish color will look great, the caribesea peace sand was my 2nd choice.

Mine is currently a mixture of caribesea Floramax with red gravel. I've changed my substrate colors and sand/gravel many times.

This is just my opinion here based of my own experiences on using 'red'. When their markings are showing. Certain polys will be more active, but then again. Some look great (much better), but still prefers to hide.

Vancouver_98683 Vancouver_98683 the pic you posted earlier in the thread is the Floramax/red gravel mix? I really love the way that looks, looks very natural African. Do you remember which red gravel it is?

That pic is just the pic from the net of what caribesea Floramax looks like alone. I actually mixed that clay like substrate with my red gravel.
