Welcome to MFK. Do you know what you're getting into with an Arowana? I hope the tank you're looking for is like 300+ gallons. If you're not willing or able to do so, I'd recommend selling the little fellow for something you can house properly. If so, they're awesomely incredible animals.

I agree. On the other hand, though, the black aros don't seem to lose their value as they grow. Even if he grows it out to the biggest tank he can afford, it will still be worth what he paid when it comes time to sell it. That is if he can do it when the time comes. Having a huge aro is one of those things where you would feel empty after you got rid of it. They really are awesome animals.

yea i have been thanks for all the help though and i dont think ima get the tat seems like a bad idea. how big are ur tats and was it hard to raise them.

To be honest, the hardest part is getting them off of live feeders, but once you do that and keep up with water changes, they aren't too bad. Mine range from 6 to 10 inches.

lol its crazy how fast people reply on this thing and really 300+ tank from what ive read most say about a 150gal should be fine. thanks for all the comments everybody its helping a lot.

It will take years, but a black aro will hit 3 feet. A 300 is a good footprint for one, but bigger is always better (thats what you tell the wife, too). :)

I think a 150 is only a 4 foot tank, so not enough room for an aro to swim. A 125 is 6 feet, but is only 18 inches front to back, so not enough turning room.
