Is there anyway to insulate around the sides?

I'm gonna at least partially bury mine, should help my insulation. I'm going for the frame model, might be easier to bury.

i had no idea you were going through this turmoil with all the fish until i caught up on the pond info.. i am so sorry you lost all those guys, but i am glad to see the heater is working and keeping everyone stable through these cold nights... :(

Thanks. It was very disheartening losing so many. So far everyone now is doing good. I now have a pacu pack, should be interesting when they get big.

my dog woulda caught that pacu like a flying hamburger!

This morning go out to check on everyone as it was very cold last night. Temp shows at almost 70 so I pull the tarp off to let the sun warm it up. First thing I see is the big pacu, laying on the bottom of the pond. Thinking that I lost him, i go for closer inspection and see movement from his gills and fins. That is when I notice two of the ID cats hovering over him. When he straightens up and starts to move, they go with him leading the way like pilot fish. Anyone else ever seen this behavior before?

My little Albino Channel will follow the school of goldies in the pond. I have seen other random fish school/follow the leader from time to time.

This morning I'm watching and the two smaller pacu school with the silver dollars, nothing unusual with that. What was funny is the seven inch red devil who desperately wants to be part of the group. They'll all be in formation and he'll swim into the middle of them. They take off to another part of the pond. He follows and this continues over and over. Guess they don't want to play with him.
