he does go to the rear glass and try to eat it. well see.

looks like a may have an outbreak of aiptasia anemones. mostly on the live rock. a few of them are large and when u get near them they retract into the rock. maybe ill get some pictures of them tonight. if it is aiptaisa i need to get rid of them fast.

still no signs of peppermint shrimp being alive. well over a week i havent seen them.
If they retract quickly and are a white-clear color, then you have aiptasia sir.

yep those are the ones.. i ordered some joe's juice. ill give it a shot. ive heard it works good.

the ph seems to be dropping a little lower then id like,7.8 at night.everything else seems to be in check except for magnisum being a little low. i mixed a little crushed coral with the sand, may help with buffering. need to do a little cleaning tonight and about a 10gal water change. got a few corals coming tommarow.

One of the things that will cause PH to drop is too much CO2 surrounding the tank. As dumb as it sounds, try opening a window next to the tank, and get some fresh oxygen into the room.

well.. what i did to help raise o2 in the tank so far is, point powerhead returns toward the surface for more suface aggitation and add a small powerhead for dead spots in the rear of the tank. i can try to open a window but that might be reaching.

im not sure what else could cause the ph to drop like it is. like i said, besides magnisuim being low, which can cause loss of calcium and k/h, and i havent seen signs of that yet. but with my kh being around 9 and calcium at 400 u would think the ph wouldnt drop, unless there is something decaying in the water causing waste.

Use kent super Dkh buffer. when lights go out ph will drop. I usually buffer my tanks at night. Dont use plain ph buffers they just bandaid the prob if you raise the alkalinity ph will naturally rise. the window idea is stuped btw. are you protein skimming yet? more flow = less red slime. also god surface agitatattion will greatly reduce co2 levels in tank.

i switched to twolittle fishies c balance to buffer alk and calcium. i like the way it works. i add 7ml of the alk buffer every 2 days and 7ml of calcium once a week.

alk stays about 9dkh and calcium stays at 450ppm with that dosing. the ph stays 8.3 during the day and 8.1 at night.

the only problem im having is keeping the cheato alive in the fuge. not sure why. but i ordered a separate sump/refuge i will be installing next week. that should fix it.

the lack of cheato in the fuge is causing nitrates to be a little higher then id like, about 10ppm now.
