Nitrates beware!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'm doing the exact same thing right now but with pothos. I usually have 20-30 ppm. Nitrate the day before a water change. Lately I h e been reading 5 ppm the day before a water change. I love it, I'm sure it will work great for you

Well the Nitrate test today showed no change which is to be expected since it has only been 5 days. I would take a few pics for you but it really hasn't changed at all yet

Sadly the experiment will be ruined on tuesday because my stock is changing but I will still update any way just to show plant growth and hopefully lower nitrates

Very nice! Can it survive out side? So is your plan to let the roots grow to the bottom of the tank and then remove that tray?

I think the key to nitrate is the GROWING and not the eventual size of the plant, cutting back or replacing with fresh is the key I think. The plants probably use the most nitrate for rapid growth.

awsome idea.. great way to neutralize nitrates. have you tested ur water since u put those in?

Yeah John whats up with the "my stock is changing"? Youre leaving us hanging here :)

There's definitely noticable root growth between your first pic and this updated pic. Leaves seem a bit longer, as well. I am doing this with pothos in my bd/leo tank and the plants are looking healthy as can be. Will test the water tomorow when I have a moment.
