OK here's a tentative for stocking with a GT. Be gentle...

1 x GT
1 x Texas Cichlid
4 x Convict (same sex?)

Other thought is to drop the texas and go 2 x GT

Thoughts most appreciated thx :)

You can probably do a little more than that in a 6 ft tank.

hey if you wanted to do a green terror, you could mix anything from a jag, to jack dempseys, to maybe a red devil, wow the possibilties are endless. If it were me i would do prolly a jag pair, or maybe a green terror, a jd, a male jag, and maybe something like a red devil and some convicts. Im not sure on the red devil, but that would be a pretty neat tank imo.

ya defiently, prolly go with two gts, with something like a red devil or jag or something as your centerpiece fish, or something along tose lines... sorry i didnt read the whole thread.

If I mix GT's and Jags or JD's would it be best to get the fish small and at similar sizes?

Any merit to running some dithers while they grow up? 6ft will be pretty empty waiting for 4-6 fish to grow up...

I always run my tanks while growing out with more fish than the tank can handle at fullsize. The number of fish dimineshes as they grow though.

OK here's a tentative stocking list. I will get all the fish at a small size (approx 2'') regardless of the eventual decision.

2 x GT
1 x Jag
1 x texas
4 x convict.

I will probably run 6-10 giant danio to add some activity to the tank while they grow. I figure they will eventually be lunch but I think I'm OK with that ;)

Any thoughts on my filtration? Will it be sufficient?

Cheers :)

*personally* id go with Firemouths over convicts, I just don't really like cons... Not to mention you will have an infestation if you don't get same sex cons.

But with large cichlids an infestation is a good thing.

I like firemouth but I was worried they might get bullied in this set-up. Convicts can look after themselves a bit better right?

If they do start breeding will the cons tear up the tank though if the other guys look to get a free lunch? I understand that all these fish are aggressive but I don't want to necessarily put them in a situation that will exacerbate that behaviour...

Thanks for continuing to answer my noob questions :)
