  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
We are collecting a lot of water and using less in general, like shorter showers and using eco washing cycles. The garden is struggling a little though.

The grass is really green after water change days ;)

Surprisingly its 70 here, and oddly windy. I'd love to move up to the NE somewhere. Was actually looking pretty heavily at Buffalo/Rochester/syracuse. Would be a tremendous weather change from being born and raise in Florida. But its too damn hot here. Although, we are looking to buy a house with a pool, so that may be enough to cool us off for us to stay, but some snow would be nice

hello; Tank water from WC on the garden? Should be OK as far as I know.
Yep. We have a wheelie bin on the balcony with a hose coming out at the bottom. We use this for the grass. My dad is considering a wellpoint

I am blessed here in Alaska with an abundance of water but I am fighting iron and sulfur in my well. I have been saving money and hope to install a non chemical filter as well as a drip system this summer.

As far as weather, while both temps are relatively cold we have routinely cycled from 30's to -20 (F) this winter. Often within the same week. wild swings

Yeah,Dware is nice but you are still in the northeastern climate zone.I'll be eventually relocating to Florida if not even farther south lol.

I couldnt do florida wife was thinking about it i like changing seasons im just ready for the next one to start already lol one thing i hated was the ridiculous snow storms in ny. We got 8 inches down here and it was like Armageddon lol thar was it for the year lol

No worries we all get caught up at times, I know I do. And I'm not trying to shame anyone just reiterate what they already know, what I myself have known when accidentally letting my emotions get the best of me. We're all human after all.

I actually like the crazy weather. I've just been thinking that even living in NY a Jeep is the way to go vehicle wise. Though I am considering a move more South because of cost of living and a pool would be nice. I was thinking Georgia because I have a lot of Family there.

Yup that was it cost of living and a pool lol pool was more bribery for the kids though. Ny just got too fast paced and costly for us. The realestate taxes are peanuts down here. Two months of ny tax = the whole yr for us now.

Heard NC is nice a couple of my buddies moved down there

NC is beautiful, but from my bit of research, they tend to have more dreary days than other places. so not as much sunshine. Florida is miserable with the heat and humidity, dont come down here. I was born and raise here and hate it.

Hello; It may be that the idea of snow is much nicer than actually living with it over time. It is only beautiful for a short while when it first snows and a little while after. Soon the stuff is a dirty slushy mix anywhere we drive. Lots of damage to cars and trucks from both collisions and rust.
If the power goes out in a snow storm it can take much longer for crews to get around to fix it.

A couple of winters or so ago my area had unusually deep snows. Many roofs collapsed.

Might be more fun to take a snow vacation every now and then. Go play in the snow somewhere and then escape back to the warmth. Warm and hot weather is much easier to deal with than cold and snow.

Let's get this back on track.

How's the weather today? Anyone else getting the "four seasons in one week" experience?

Cloudy and occasional rain all week but at least we should have seen the last of real cold. Usually spring starts in late March here, although last year we had snow at the end of April which sucked.

Exactly my plans, too. What kind of time frame are you looking at? I ideally want to move directly after college but it's possible I'll have to stay here for a few years to acquire some savings :(

@skjl: Exactly. I hate when people say cold weather/snow is good because you can go skiing and it's "cozy". Anyone who has lived in a cold climate will deny that. The idea of winter is fun and all until you're waiting for a train in 15f weather for half an hour each day.
