That sucks guess i shouldnt complain then lol

Here in the uk we always complain about the weather but at least we know what to expext, there's no extremes. In the US you lot get mega high and mega low temps, ice storms, hurricanes and twisters. So we shouldn't grumble really. But we still do cos us brits like nothing better than a good whinge!! Haha.

I
Hello; Well if a theory works out to be correct that may change in the next few decades. I think it goes something like this. The very large ocean current that runs up the east coast of North America (Gulf Stream) passes by Hudson bay and points north and then turns east and crosses the North Atlantic. Along the way it gets cold, gets renamed, joins some other currents and eventually goes near the UK.
The theory is that as the ice melts it will change the salinity of this current loop and, I think cause the current to alter. May be that there is different weather in the future for you.

Hello; Water a lawn??? If you do that the stuff will grow even more. I look forward to the time when grass growth slows down around here usually in July and August. Right now I have to mow at least every 6 to 8 days. Later I should be able to go a couple of weeks between mowing.

The grass gets brown and not such a pretty green then but will come back strong in the fall. A few summers ago my area had high temps (over 100 degrees F) and little rain so that it was mostly brown by the 4th of July. Only had to mow the area over the septic field. Was back to green and weekly mowing by the fall.

That's all well and good skjl47 but by the time that happens i'll probably be about 460 years old!!!!

Exams are okay
Hello; Only OK?? I guess you did not follow my suggestion to get one of your male friends to keep the girl company so you can concentrate on the exams, huh??

unless you have a borehole
Hello How would one know if they had a "borehole"? I am not sure we are allowed to have those. May I ask what a "borehole" ?

It's like a well I think? A deep hole with a pump at the bottom for water

Hello; For those with a couple of grand laying around here is an idea. If you want a power backup but do not want to use a generator the Goal Zero Yeti 1400 Lithium Portable Power Station. It is supposed to function like a 1,500-watt gas powered generator.
Saw this in my current issue of The Family Handyman on page 4.

Can be found at goalzero.com

No fumes.

Im new to this lawn thing... how often do you water it ?
At least once a day,two waterings would be better and don't water it during the hottest times of the day.I try to do morning and early evening saturations.

Hello; I am going to revise my list of things to discuss with anyone who happens to be thinking about starting or restarting in the fishkeeping hobby. I have been for a long time making the hobby sound a bit more difficult than it can be in hope of discouraging a novice. I have seen too many very badly run or abandoned tanks over the decades.

My addition to the discussion likely will go something on the order of how willing are they to kill a healthy fish that has lost favor. I got an e-mail from an old friend who had tanks back in the late 1950's & early 60's. He has recently started back in the hobby. He decided that a fish was not working out after all. Could not find anyone to take it so it has been released into a creek near his place.

This was already done before I was contacted so too late for that talk now. I should have had the "talk" when first learning of the new tank. So, from now on I plan to ask if a person is willing to kill a fish for the sake of the hobby and not release it.

Before all the ways to avoid this situation get posted my guess is that this situation is faced by a lot of new or retread fishkeepers. Also that the situation boils down to kill it or release the fish far too often.

Hello; While I am complaining let me add bicycle race fans to my list. I am following the Criterium du Dauphine this week. I will follow the Tour De France next month.

On the high mountain stages where the riders are going slow large crowds of fans gather. These fans, far to many of them, do really stupid things. Some times very dangerous things. I guess it is to be on film/TV because cameras follow the major races.

In addition to the flags that are waved in the faces of the riders, the air horns blasted in their ears, the yelling, and the running next to the riders. Now they are setting off smoke bombs of many colors. Right at the top of a very difficult. I can only imagine what it is like to ride a bicycle to the summit of an Alp mountain pass and get a lung full of smoke.

From time to time a rider gets a lick in on a really stupid fan. Chris Froom got a good punch in on one. Occasionally a fan gets run over by a bike rider going at high speeds. That can leave a mark.

.....and it probably hurts too.
