Ridiculous how so many places are changing things due to covid that don’t need to be changed and or are likely to be changed back once it’s over.
Well, the powers that be are going to allow inside dining at restaurants throughout the city starting next week so no more sitting at tables in parking lots lol.....thing is patrons will be rquired to provide personal information in the interest of contact tracing.....NOPE,no thanks, not going for that crap.

I wonder if others have similar views.
Hello; Perhaps not exactly the same views but similar views . One area I go a bit different is from being in the most at risk group ( 73 and one co-morbidity). I will continue to wear a mask when inside a non-ventilated building and will not go some places. I do not see the point of a mask when outside unless folks are jammed together.

Hello; Yeah showing an ID to eat a meal. Thing is, to me anyway, the concept of trying to run down all possible contacts is something we lost capacity for and has no practical application any more. The virus is way too wide spread already and has been for a while. Contract tracing works best early in an outbreak before a disease gets wide spread or for a disease such as Ebola which is much harder to catch. This covid19 is already well spread and has some other qualities that make contact tracing much less effective. A couple being that such a large % of the infected never show symptoms and additionally so many are never tested. So say you go to a Wal-mart and later a tested person is found to be infected and there at the same time. Well it is just as likely, to me, that I have been in a Wal-mart on days when an asymptomatic person was around shedding virus who never get ill so does not get tested.
The medical folks have very few tools to use so far in this outbreak. Contact tracing happens to be one and my guess is it is a use what you have attitude even if it is not working very well.

The thing we need is good (reliable & accurate) serum antibody tests, hopefully not too expensive. Maybe a cheap easy primary test not super accurate (like aquarium test strips) and a good backup test to be sure (like a good master test kit).

I paid with Visa. Everybody knows who I am and what I ate, Where, what time . . . it's all in "the system". I'd be more worried about listeria.

BTW, my wife's been telling me to see the doctor over some issues I don't think they can diagnose or cure.
I don't want to go any where near a medical facility right now.

My old friend went 3 weeks ago, to have a checkup after recovering from pneumonia. A few days later he got a certified letter telling him he was exposed and to come get tested.

He was tested two weeks ago, and no symptoms of covid, but no results of the testing after 2 weeks?

This is a 68 year old man with diabetes, and other health issues. You'd think he'd get a quick test.

I spoke to a resident surgeon at CSU medical and he said the Dr's there get tested every 48 hrs, and the test takes 48 hrs to process.

Continuous testing.

Well I normally pay with my card too and I'm not sitting in a parking lot under a tent to eat,not worried about listeria and I'm not filling out any questionnaires or offering any extra personal information just to eat at a damned restaurant.

LOL . . . I haven’t been to a restaurant at all since this started. Normally we go once a week.
I've been but only for The Olive Garden's curbside pickup. That is mainly where we used to go to dine before TEOTWAKI kicked off.

My heart hurts for the people as well as the flora and fauna who are faced with the wildfires that have been ravaging California.
To the brave souls battling the fires, you have my utmost admiration and respect.

Hi everyone,

how are you all doing? I hope you and yours have been alright during the pandemic and all the other mayhem happening in the world this year.
Just popping in to say that (as those of you who care probably already guessed) I'll shortly be forced to leave the hobby for a while. This doesn't mean I'll never be active here again and I'm already devising plans to get back into it on a small scale but I thought I'd give a bit of an explanation for my continued absence.
One thing I'd like to know, though: Does anybody know or even have a clue about what happened to Miguel (Portuguese guy who used to be a Mod here)?
If so, please drop me a PM and let me know. Thanks everyone and stay safe.

Ben

Hey Chubs!
I'm not sure of what happened with Miguel but I seem to recall him mentioning some health issues back before he stopped being active here.
I enjoyed seeing his photos of his mastiffs and his aros.I hope that all is well with him.
