Official Off Topic Discussion Thread #1

I completely disagree

there are tons and tons of jobs where people deal with customers daily. like a department store worker who makes min wage puts up with just as much crap as a server in a restaurant. does that store worker not provide a service and put up with bs customers? does that person not have a family or bills to pay? so why does servers in the food industry only deserve this? that's what i'm asking

and don't assume every one who eats at a restaurant is rich. that may be the janitor just taking his wife out to a nice dinner after a week's hard work

and c'mon, work for free?? no one works for free bro.

I don't need to boycott anything because if you wanna make more money, you should be the one boycotting. if you are in a crappy situation why do I need to do anything for you? and I am not hating on anyone. i'm very thankful of my servers. I appreciate what they do. that doesn't mean i'm required to give you $8-$10 of tip ON TOP OF the already overpriced food

if the server is in a situation that is hurting, then he/she needs to do something about it. I did. I went to school, started at a better paying job, started from the bottom, worked my way up. everyone has that opportunity
I HAVE COME TO THE CONCLUSION THAT YOU ARE just cheap... nothings gonna keep ya from it so more power to ya...your gonna get the sevice you pay for ...and saying "there are tons and tons of jobs ,,,in this economy?do you watch the news?

I consider that statement admission to defeat in this discussion

that is what everyone will end up saying when they can't say anything else. after all the facts are laid out and the questions stump them, that's what it comes down to, insults and assumptions

I like you lp, i'm not taking anything personal just so you know. I hope you don't either. I love good debates

of course i'm exaggerating when I say "tons and tons" to get my point across. but there are literally thousands of people who service customers (not in the food industry) that make min wage and deserve tips. but mainly in the food industry is where the self entitlement lies

how are you gonna fix that by screwing the ones that do make tips.. and do you realize that in a previous post you are USING THE PRICE OF THE FOOD you chose to eat...as an excuse to not pay the person WHO IS SERVING IT TO YOU( with no control of the price...blaming the poor or working class is a tried and true ploy by the rich to engender the support of the mis-informed,,,but it was a nice try .. and I AM NOT WRONG (or admitting anything)when it comes to having to serve cheap jerks ,anybody that has to raise a family on minimum wage (not you obviously,)knows you can't boycott anything and still pay next months rent ... not making judgments here but you SOUND a little like a guy who had to have a not so good job as a kid to make sure his trust fund money didn't go away,,,and is taking it out on the unfortunates who had to work with him...like I SAID ..NOT MAKING JUDGMENTS ,,,BUT THAT'S how it sounds to me ,,not trying to offend,, just reacting to what you said

Now that we have the definitive word on the law, I personaly think it's lame not to tip the people serving you. The guy helping you in the department store is not putting up with your complaints, whining, screaming kids for an hour or more as a rule. They do not have to watch for spilled food or drink on the floor or clean up after some really nasty people. They don't have children sticking food into their pockets or be verbally abused because someone else didn't make the plate to their exacting standards.

I always tip the server but not an exact amoumt, it depends on the quality of the service. I tip the person who delivered pizza(back when we still ordered), I've tipped other delivery people as well. I do not tip for carryout.

You don't tip the guy(or girl) who prepared your food because generally they make better money unless they work fast food or low end place. You can get anyone to carry a plate(no offense to those who do) without too many issues but your business depends on your cook or chef. You don't just grab anyone off the street and you pay accordingly.

Now I'm going to pull an Eddie and complain about too much time devoted to a topic that already has it's own thread.
