I think so... Dad says he used to fish for carp in Victoria, so I assume we have some somewhere.. Whether or not they're native is another question...Hello; Some years ago I caught a large carp. I was using light tackle, a six foot fly rod with at most six pound leader (likely 4 pound). Had no idea what was hooked and am still surprised that I got in in the boat. Took a while. Likely a larger measure of luck than skill. I think it was around 18 inches with a heavy round body.
Hey KK, do they have carp at the end of the world?
Strictly sport in the UK mate we look after our carp so it can live to fight another daySo,they are strictly a sport fish, not for eating?
I can't imagine that a fish that spends half its day grubbing about in slit on the bottom of lakes and rivers can taste nice tbh pops , slugs would work but worms or maggots are betternever tried eating them, I am told if you are going to eat them to cut their tails off while alive and let them bleed out in the water. other wise they taste realy fishy/gamey, again have heard never tried. I also hear slugs make excellent bait for them.
