Yep. Right on both. I'm doing a lot more sport this year and I will be going to do work on a farm at some point in the future, a lot of physical work with some lectures on agriculture from a family member who is incredibly successful in the field.

It's half past 10 in the morning here

Hello; I think the issues of being overweight now are the same as they have always been. Most important being that it is a very unhealthy lifestyle. The health issues are much better understood over decades ago. I also figure the information is much more readily available than ever before. There is also the being unattractive aspect to throw in.

That you suggest I be happy about myself is perhaps an outcome of the sort of media influence I am asking opinions for. It seems to me I should be unhappy about a self inflicted condition which is known to be unhealthy.

I picked being overweight as a focus of the question for a couple of reasons. One is the report I heard about on the news yesterday. Another is it should be a topic easier to talk about than the one several posts back when we were discussing media influence.

Well since my back/hip surgery im over my weight. Was up to 225 down to 216. I'd be happy to hit 200. Also would kike to quit smoking

And here I am at 150lbs...

I loved the movie as well, pretty damn hilarious when you get all the innuendos and stuff

Hello; Here is another item to think about. Heard on the TV in the background today a report that fewer people are concerned about losing weight anymore. Seems that being way overweight has become more acceptable.

Got me to thinking about a portion of recent posts in this thread. I wish to be specific here and not dredge up the particular topic. More to the point I am thinking of how media over time can influence how people think about things.

In the past being fat was pretty much look down on and considered to be a bad thing. For example I am well over the weight I consider to be good for me. I do feel bad about it and I hope to manage it better.

It seems now that more folks consider being fat to be no big deal. My specific question being has the media helped to push the change in attitude concerning acceptance?

Well, according to the governments weight charts, im probably morbidly obese. They think to be healthy you need to be skin and bones.

But I could stand to loose some weight. I hovered around 200 for a while, then jumped to my highest of 230, ive been slowly dropping down. I think last was 213? I'd be content around 185ish with my current build. or content around 200 if I lost weight but put on muscle.

Some people can pull off a heavier weight healthily, some can't. I'm quite low in the healthy range of the BMI scale but if I put on maybe 10lbs I would be rather tubby almost. I lost 15lbs last year and now I'm referred to as skinny...

Heavier of muscle is quite good since it's not as much physical mass as fat

Today is day without a women day...smh schools are being closed for this....complete idiocy

I'm 230 right now and I can say I am far from "fat" lol.

Yea, the media has been brainwashing us on alot of stuff. Trying to pass off the abnormal as normal.

I'm lucky that I've never weighted over 200. However people always call me skinny... which is just as annoying if someone was called fat. But I'd rather be called skinny then weight challenged.

The media has also pushed the PC stuff on us. I am not a PC person. I tell it like it is
