So, skip sex and don't have kids is the message now is it, along with all the other messages we get from scientists on what we should and shouldn't be doing to live longer.

Great! Factor out all the good stuff in life and grow to a ripe old age of 120 where all you've got to look forward to is soiling yourself on a daily basis!

At least when your memory goes too you won't have to go through the indignity of forgetting your grandchildrens names.....because you won't have any!!

Hello; I figure this story is clickbait but it struck a chord. Shortly after marrying one of my wives, I showed here where i kept some cash in the house for an emergency. On day one she had an "emergency". I wound up not keeping such funds around the house. There were other similar incidents. I became less favored by her family when I refused to fund ongoing monthly crisis's.
I had fair warning when we were dating. Ther was the episode when the mother took the family to an amusement park for fun and effectively spent the mortgage money to do so.

Hello; I am childless. So have avoided that indignity.

The interesting thing about your story is that she is now your ex wife, good for you. And I suspect that, if true, that other story will also eventually result in divorce.

A marriage is never going to work out if both your views on financial aspects of the relationship are polar opposites.

...Shortly after marrying one of my wives...
Am I the only one who chuckled out loud a bit upon reading this line? :)

I had fair warning when we were dating.
I'm sure you did...as did virtually every ex-married-man. I keep hearing and reading about how the wives changed drastically from loving, understanding and caring partners...into shrill harpies whose thought processes are completely opposed to those of their husbands. I've never known a person, male or female, who underwent such a radical transformation...just lucky, I guess...?

When I was much younger, I felt that my first impressions of people I met were always pretty accurate, and I trusted those impressions. Now, much later in life...I'm more convinced that's true than ever.

I kinda sorta think that a saying I just typed out a few minutes ago in a completely different thread might be appropriate here as well. Have you considered the possibility that when you married your wife...er, wives...you were possibly thinking with your little head rather than your big one? 🤔

When I was a younger man my "little head" always persuaded my "big head" to do the "right" thing!

Unfortunately for me I shouldn't have listened as it got me in a few scrapes!

Hello; Yes, all the wives are X now. Learned my lessons but it took a while. Also yes to the small head stuff even when I I had convinced myself I was in control. I was on the way to having another X. We had made arrangements for me to meet her extended family when a sort of fog lifted.

There is an Alan Parsons song, forget the name, with a lyric which goes something like "the sun in your eyes makes some of your lie's worth believing".

I think that was “Eye in the Sky”.

Well today wasn’t too much fun. I took my wife grocery shopping and then I changed the struts on my daughters Toyota.

Hello; Another dog story but without a mauling nor a dead dog. Does raise a question or two. One being when is it "fair" to pepper spray a dog? The story is one example of when i think the small dog owner had a case to do so, with an understanding. That the dog park had signs requiring to have dogs on a lead was good enough reason. The owner of the two off leash dogs knew the rules and decided to "tush hog" the situation. The owner of the small dog on a leash wimped out in my opinion. Which is, in my opinion, what the T hog wanted & expected.

That gets to the understanding. That being in a situation such as the one described you are confronting the owner as well as the dogs. Had a few such situations myself. Some folks do not like the idea of a leash nor a fence. I get it. In a perfect world all dogs would be friendly to strange people and strange dogs and we could let them run free with no worries. Not the case.
I have a neighbor two properties over, maybe 100 to 150 feet away. We got along for around 14 years. On good terms. They got a sheepdog and when a pup I was around it with no problems. At going on a year, it decided to "herd" everyone in the neighborhood. Would try to get behind me and others and bite the back of a leg. Got the guy who mows another neighbor's house pants leg but did not get the skin. Dog tried hard to get me a number of times. Got to where i had to keep it in front of me. Would have to stop mowing or stacking firewood and such. Even chased two small kids around my property. So, i called the law a couple of times.

Came to a head one day when the man came to retrieve the dog for the seventh time and saw me swinging a metal fireplace poker at the dog ( the time the dog chased a 6 year old & 10 years old child around my place. ) He threatened to kick my ass for trying to hit his dog. So i swung at it again a few more times. I also called the law again. I made it clear I was no longer going to put up with the dog and would do my best to kill it if I could manage to do so.
Not sure what they did but the dog no longer comes on my property. It will stand in their yard and bark at me from a distance. No fence. Took the father of the two kids around a year to finally call the cops over the dog comming onto his place and going for his kids. He lives closer. I gave him a walnut picker upper spear I had made which seems to have convinced my neighborhood "tush hog" to keep the dog at home.

So far, my ass has not been kicked, and the dog stays home. That is the understanding I refer to. when a dog is off lead and is out and about it is half the issue. The other half is the owner. We need to be ready to deal with both or run and hide.

Hello; I replaced the struts on my 2001 Sentra SE a few years ago. Did it the hard way by reusing the springs.

It is the middle of the coldest days of the season so far. Only in the 20's F all day and down to single digits overnight. I will make my Pelosi dish. You have to eat it to find out what is in it (a name i gave the dish as a joke which stuck). I brown some meat (pork this time). I cut up some petite red potatoes with skin left on and line the bottom of a Pyrex baking dish. Put the meat on top of the potatoes. Throw some brown rice on that. a couple cans of mushroom soup. A packet of onion soup dry mix. Some Rasins. Some Capers. Some sliced almonds. Top the mess with some quarters of gala apples. Add water to near the top and bake with a lid on. I use a quite old Pyrex dish and lid and hope I do not break it.
I have used chicken and beef as well. An interesting taste but one which does not suit every one. I did try artichoke hearts once an did not care for the results. A good meal to fix in the winter on a cold day. I also have a warm fire going in my BUCK stove and am toasty warm and no heat pump running up my bill and giving only the illusion of warmth.

I heated up some water to put out for the stary cat this morning and some food. Hope the cat makes it. i am not much of a cat person but hope if it hangs around will keep the rodents out of my truck wiring.

when is it "fair" to pepper spray a dog?

Personally, causing actual physical harm to a dog would only happen if it actually attacked me, or someone I was with. And to be clear, I wouldn't be attacking it with pepper spray. If I could catch It, it would be an all out fist and boots attack and I more than likely wouldn't stop until the animal was dead!

If the owner had something to say about that situation I would more than likely assault them too, and let the police clear up the aftermath. In the circumstances I would have thought the law would side with me so I wouldn't be too concerned about prosecution.

In this case though I don't think the pepper spray was needed. The dogs didn't actually attack the small dog. Knowing dogs, some can be a little over enthusiastic around other dogs, sniffing and trying to play and such. I suspect that is what went on here.

Maybe the owner of the smaller dog should have let the situation play out a little more before jumping the gun. And of course, so it doesn't happen again.....they could always get a bigger dog themselves!!
