Oil spill

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
There was a good thread on this situation in the lounge.I first learned about this mess from that one as the media had'nt gotten around to covering the leak at the time. That thread made it to ten pages and then the mods stepped in and closed it due to political opinions from different members so lets try to keep this one open by steering clear of the political commentary.

i read on the site below that an oil-industry luncheon awarding "offshore drilling safety" is postponed. BP was reported to be a finalist!? . makes you wonder!!!

Corporate america? The company in question is BP. As in British Petroleum. Their headquarters is in London, UK.

Why can't we just drop a massive cone down there? Just wondering :P

I hope they get a fat ass fine and have to pay for all damages done. Does it really take this long with all the money that they have to figure out a way to stop the oil from coming out or at least spreading?

i hope we don't have to restock any wild live. :(

Worst part about this:
People lost their lives, and many many more people are loosing their sole source of income because a billion(s) dollar industry is currently ruined and will be for a long time.

I wholeheartedly disagree. Sorry, but people are not the main victims. Plus, the prices of petroleum products are grossly inflated by the very companies that skimp on preventative measures. The company is ultimately responsible, and it must now pay for the risks it took.

Unfortunately, you can't throw money at the ocean and expect it to grow organisms.

The part that bothers me is that this is not the last oil spill we are going to hear about that's (at least partially) due to negligence/greed. It may not even be the worst we will encounter...
