Rumor has it they are hiring people for clean ups for between $20-$30 an hour. Only thing is,expect headaches, vomiting, dizziness, and pooping on yourself. Other than that,it isn't bad money.Sounds like your typical t.v. medicine advertisement. Oh and you will probably get cancer later in life also but hey-we all gotta die of something right? So go get that money folks! Just think of all the fish you can buy.
Before I forget, all tuna will now be packed in oil instead of spring water, courtesy of good ol' BP! Isn't that all just tastey info!

yea this teacher that i talk to in school said that theyre hiring people to do clean up, but im 16 and and cant get down there to help :( i honestly dont give a damn about the 20 to thirty an hour, all i want is to go down and clean this mess that greedy fat f's have caused. so if any one that reads this has anyway to get me down to the gulf and help clean up to stop the spread of it norhtwards along the current and the extermination my striped bass, i will be the first one to sign up to volunteer and get cancer proudly

Just imagine how much easier this would be to deal with if they were allowed to drill onshore...

But onshore drilling isn't allowed because people can see it and it makes people 'feel better' to put such things out of eye sight, even when it makes it hundreds of times more difficult and increases the risks just as much...

It sure is easy to hate the oil companies as we enjoy the hundreds of thousands of products the industry allows us to have access to...

I simply wish the EPA would allow the US to deal with the clean up the same proven way that the Middle East has dealt with their last couple spills...

HMMMMM..... Some thing that are TRUE and FACT

A. BP HAS asked for help for anyone and everyone. Including other oil and gas companies! :WHOA:

B. BP is also "Taking full financial responsibility" They are NOT ONLY going to pay for fixing this problem and cleaning it up, but they are also going to give huge amounts of money to the people who lost their jobs(Fishermen, crabbers, shrimppers, etc) there is a LONG list of things they are going to cover.

C. BP will be losing a LOT of money but it is a huge business that is thriving even with the spill. They have a tremendous amount of money, and guess what??? People are still buying gas :O So their money won't be leaving any time soon.

D. And as far as the government stepping in... The government is just that government, not our personal maids who pick up all our crap and fix our problems. (This is for people in the USA, some other countries work differently.) And BP knows more about their mess than anyone.

Other thoughts.

A. The loss of money is horrible, but what about the people who DIED!?!? We are so focused on the oil spill we forget that people lost their lives.:screwy:

B. As horrible as this whole thing is, I personally think that American... Scratch that the WORLD is getting a wake up call to the harmful effects of oil and off shore drilling. It doesn't mean that it can't be safe it just means we need to be careful.

I'm not an expert, I pay very close attention to these things and this is what I think. The one thing BP can't do is bring back the dead or the lost habitat. And a question to some of you "Why wouldn't BP want to fix this problem???" I mean when they look at the oil flowing out of the pile they see billions are dollars going POOF! So I doubt thy are being lazy or careless.

But I'm just a dumb kid and I don't know anything. :y220d:

Obviously you are a 'dumb kid' who has educated himself with details before formulating an opinion... I wish more people were so "dumb"...

The whole thing blows my mind. I know corners were cut. I know palms were greased. I know the rich get richer. I know that there are buttloads of people who could care less about our/their enviroment. I know money talks and BS walks. I also know that there have always been these things. What I'd like to know is how why are'nt ther big azz vacuums out there filtering the oil out of the water? There is a filter that can do this.......

The people who died are NOT the worse part, it is tragic but not the worst part. They get hazard pay for a reason. The worse part is all those soon to be dead animals who were just trying to live then get covered in the worst man made disaster in history. The worse part are the people cleaning up this mess who will get sick to help the real victims. Honestly, for what its worth, I can care less about the people who caused it.

Morally I think its tough to get mad and place blame. This is the result of our own dependence and convinences if you drive a gas car and use plastic. Its a side effect and risk of the lifestyle. The risk goes on and it can/will happen again. Alt energy is shot down as being expensive and not feasible...neither is cleaning an oil spill.
