Orange Head Tapajos growth thread

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I keep coming here to look at your group, then I go and look at my tank (2 month old Red/Orange Heads) and in my head I scream "GROW FASTER!".

well guys, I haven't posted anything in a while so I thought I would take some quick pictures but I will get a video up later because the pictures aren't the best and it doesn't show their colors well. but I have had these guys for about a year and a month and there growth has substantially slowed down. its pretty cool watching the video I took the day I got them and looking at them now. I am glad I started this thread but its not close to being down because have plenty of more growth to be done. I would have thought they would have been a little bit bigger by now but I am in no rush. and I am very happy with them orange heads (2).JPGorange heads (3).JPGorange heads (4).JPG

heres the video an update on all the fish. I think i have a "real" pair of orangeheads (if you don't know what i mean read back in the thread an i actually had two females spawn) getting ready to spawn one of them is a female and hopefully the other is a male but we will soon find out. well the moment I have been waiting for the female is about to start laying eggs so lets see if this time shes with a male haha the fish I assume is a male is the last fish I haven't seen lay eggs so im pretty sure its a male but then again I never thought two of my female fish would lay eggs together so you never know

woke up today and all the eggs are their only because I put the moonlight on like someone in the thread mentioned. it was weird during the night it was only the male guarding the eggs and when I turned on the lights the female joined him again. here's a video of them laying eggs. they went on laying for about an hour after I took the video [YT]M9fwi7afZiM[/YT]

great news I can see eyes on the eggs so that means I officially have 1 male and three females which is good. im going to let the parents take care of them for their first time. there is still the possibility the parents could eat the eggs. they will end up getting eatin if they do hatch out but since its their first time im just going to let them do their thing. and then maybe the next time I will take some and raise some up I don't know yet. im just happy I know I have a male now
