Greetings to you all.

This is my first night and first post on this forum. Lots of great stuff here. I have a question that will most likely be viewed as controversial, but so far it has worked for me.

Please keep an open mind as I ask :-)

I have a 125 gallon tank right now with 2x8" oscars, 1xSexually Mature Blood Parrot Cichlid, and 1x5" (possibly female) blue diamond flowerhorn. To date they have gotten along amazingly well, even during feeding time. Typically they share food well enough, no one gets hungry, and no one gets hurt. They do occasionally have a spat as you may guess, but no one in the tank has any battle scars so to speak. The flowerhorn was added last. They have their own territories staked out, but the oscars usually stick together.

Ideally, in the long term I'd like to get an aquarium, if possible, I would like to keep them all in one tank. The tank is certainly colorful. To get enough space, I have considered possibly a custom 84x24x24 tank. I've always been really attentive to over-filtering my tank, so, I am not worried about getting a good filtration system setup for them. I just want to try and make sure, if there is any possibility this will work, to plan for enough space.

In the end, if I *have* to separate them, I will, but they are all still getting along fabulously at this point.

Hmm I think maybe you left out the question, unless you were just stating everything

Maybe you forgot? :grinno:

Or is it implied if it's wise to keep them together for an even longer term?

Oops and Welcome to MFK :]

I think they are asking whether that tank size will provide enough space for the fish to live together peacefully.

I guess in making sure I went into detail, I didn't finish the question :-)

Is 84x24x24 enough? :-)

If not, a suggested minimum here.
Oops, I posted too late (I typed this post 8 minutes ago, but I left the computer and forgot to submit it). Oh well, at least I know now that I would have been right. :)

Anyway, back on topic, I think that tank size could work. I have seen a very similar combo kept together in a ~150 gallon successfully before, except there were more of each species in that tank, but I still think it could work. Although, the FH is still small, so there is still a chance that it could become aggressive toward its tankmates...

I'd suggest maybe a 250 gl
It may be more than needed but a little extra room never hurt anyone ;]
But that's just me

The length is fine

maybe just add more width to it and the height is fine too

so instead of 24 width maybe 30?
