Right!.....now,the guy claimed he needed to get to his destination in order to perform a surgery on a patient.....what if that was true and this patient suffered or died because he could not get there in time?
Man that is crazy. Listening to the radio it sound like he got slapped around pretty bad

why do the people on the plane already have to leave? How do they choose? Do they go by ticket purchase times? Or just pick?
they were not actually overbooked but they wanted to make room for a few employees who needed to get to the next destination.
Hello; The news stories have been saying the airlines ( apparently all airlines) have the legal rights to 1. over book flights because of the number of no shows. 2. can pick ticket holders to bump from flights. The picks apparently are the more commonly the last to arrive or the last to buy a ticket. There may also be a random process reported. Apparently the airlines have to offer compensation to those bumped.
Apparently this guy was approached politely by the flight crew. Not sure if he became abusive physically or verbally. The flight crew then called some sort of help, maybe a security type, to help get the man off the plane. The guy still refused and was forcibly removed.

Hello; While I am sure these arguments will be used if this makes it to a trial, I do not buy either as relevant. The doctor was out of town by his own choice and any number of things may cause a delay. Doctors often, if not always, have some other doctor to back up and take care of their patients while they are away.
It may also be likely that the surgery is not an emergency sort or otherwise why would a doctor leave town?
Bear in mind both you guys and myself are speculating without all the facts. I conceded my take may be way off.

I see news stories about folks being kicked off airplanes fairly often. The twist on this one may be the videos and that he was bumped for a non-security reason.

This kinda reminds me of the video of the police officer using force to remove a student from a classroom a while ago. The teacher and principal had tried to get the student to leave without success. They called in an officer. The officer is the last in the line, he/she has no one else to call and has the job of getting the thing done. If people cooperate then there is no need to use force. When folks refuse a lawful order then at some point force must be used.

Back in the early 1970's I was a teacher in a high school. It was a rough community so during our planning periods another male teacher and I were assigned to roam the halls. One fine day the principal told us to escort a guy out of the building. We found him in a restroom ( this was back when you only found guys in a boys restroom.) He was drunk and raising h###. He was young and stout but then so were we. It took a while to convince him to leave and as he was no longer walking good we dragged him down the hall by his heels. We rolled him down the steps outside the school. Glad it happened back in the day and not now. I'll wager some one today would take his side and I would get sued.

I don't either, it was included in a article I was reading about it.

I also heard United Airlines stocks are tanking and China is pissed over this.
