Ok, so I will go to aquarium fish depot when I get the second one set up. I contacted a local pond store that I trust and am stopping by today to pick up 2 rosy barbs, and 3 catfish. I mean, they should be fine. It is 80% cycled water from my tank. They are getting another shipment of barbs tomorrow, so will stop by tomorrow to have the first pick. They only have 2 rosy barbs currently. Most likely setting up the other pond next week over the weekend. Can Paradise Fish go with Cherry Shrimp, and can Cherry Shrimp go outside? Also, I got a 1 inch hitchhiker Black Racer Nerite Snail on this plant I think is called a dwarf lily or something like that.
I would expect the paradise to make short work of the shrimp. Larger shrimps maybe. I don’t think the cherry shrimp could tolerate the cold temps anyway.
Probably a better bet temp and size wise.

You've inspired me to start this Saturday. Got the plant from a pond. Container is 1 gallon.
No filter, no substate, full sun in SD weather. Koi is from Japan. No acclimation or cycling required. Put them right in. The Kohaku did jump out last night but appears fine. Obviously, the Hariwake was chasing the Kohaku.

I’m not sure if the dogfish can survive in freshwater.
