pay more for wild caught?

It's really hard to say, about frontosa's... usually you always hear that wild caught fronts are always better in coloration, structure, attitude.. etc. But i have some fronts and i have both F0 and F1, and for some reason one of my F1 looks better than my F0's in coloration, and structure, but my F0's are better eaters than my F1 fronts, they eat like there's no tomorrow.

And I've never seen a wild silver aro with dropeye said:
Really??? I've never seen a wild silver... where can you get a wild silver that has no drop-eye, and that is real shiny??
Does anyone have a pic of their WC Silver that can share? I would love to see one.

if it came to a choice which 1 i would go for i would go for captive as udont know how they have caught the wild 1s have they gased them torn up the habitat or caught by local people who only catch what hey need to sell. if u do buy a wild 1 and they damaged thier haitat just to get a higher number and greater profits. ur supporting what we all hate. but if they are caught in a humane way with ut most respected i would go for the wild caught

MOst of the time they are caught how anyone would catch a fish jarcher, rod, net etc, they do't normally destroy habitats to catch exotic fish to sell.

i got it then... discus are really nice and beautiful fish. correct me if i'm wrong... is it had to maintain them? some would say.... 25 or 50% water change everyday... some would say once a week. and with regards to R/O water... are they really needed? all these things make me jump out of my seat and say no in buying discus. that's why i was thinking of frontosas instead of discus. either way... is it harder to keep wild caught? or tank breed are more sturdy?:) spending hundreds of $$$ for a colony is no joke and dying on you... it will really hurt my pocket.

i know this is late reply but here goes.

the whole 20-50% wc every day or every other day is BS IMO. i do my wc in my discus tank maybe once every two to three months if that. i have no problems withthem what so ever. i use water that comes right out of the tap. again...no problems.

wilds are UBER easy to keep as pets. just make sure the water is warm ( 84-90) and you get the pH atleast semi low...in the 6 range somewhere is good. mine stays at 84ish degrees witha pH of 6.5-6.6 and have great luck with fishes. the domestics are just as easy and can tolerate lower temps, usually 80+ and they are good. but they dont like it much when the water gets into the 70's hehe. the wilds i have were eating within two hours of being added to my tank. they were alittle stressed when i got them in at the store but were eating within the next day or two. pretty darn good for a wild caught fish.

as far as cost, see if you can find local breeders. i get some colors for free from one of them and get other colors really cheap. plus you can get to be friends with a LFS and see if they will drop you a whole box of them. my breeder and i have the offer of getting a box of wild discus at cost plus 10% to cover shipping. you dont even wanna know how cheap that is..haha but its worth a shot to talk to your LFS people
