the main contributor to the deminishing oil reserves is the USA .George Bush's refusal the sign the Keoto agreement and the fact that trhe average US citizen uses 3 times the energy that the average European and 5 times that of the world average
no argument here, though Im afraid you'd have to include western europe and the UK as well. maybe not quite as wasteful as us yanks, but still far beyond 90% of the rest of the world
Someone will come up with an alternate when oil starts to get too expensive to supply.Too much $ and power involved.Right now too much profit in oil any tech to replace it is gonna get squashed.
Theres already is acouple alternatives, one has been around for atleast 10 years just wasnt in great demand.
E85 Ethonal is one, theres Bio-Diesel (for larger vehicles) only problems is most places (atleast up here) dont want to change over an carry newer stuff. I mean hell E85 Ethonal is basiclly corn based Alchohol fuel, an Bio-diesel is refined vegatable oil an can be done by anyone (you just gotta get the Equipment an old oil from a reasurant).

well good point.. as a steamfitter by trade"one who builds powerplants among other trades" this is a great argument to start building more nuclear power plants, they are alot safer than some people lead you to believe...ie G.W and the big oil.....
