Pearls on the Rise

Funny you say this, but the 60k hybrid rays that you are talking about, what do those look like? Do they look like high end pure black diamonds or something else?
Usually look like either massive big spots or a pearl BD hybrid

This is exactly what I'm talking about. This is a prime example of a super high end BLACK AND WHITE hybrid. Of course this will command more money than the pure BDs because it looks like a pure bred BD with extremely big spots. As you know ,pure BIG SPOT BDs still cost some serious guap. The other hybrids, like the black/brown, black/orange, brown/orange, black/yellow is way cheaper than the average pure bred Black Diamonds, yes, even in Asia.

I agree with most of that. Black and white will almost always command more. Pure big spot BD's do command serious $$$. Although like 99% of them the spots shrink, eclipse and break once adulthood is reached.
I disagree however that any other hybrid is cheaper than common average BD, no matter what continent it's on. You can get mid grade average BD's in Asia now for almost nothing because they are so common and over produced. It's the hybrid breeders that are being able to offer something new to buyers who are killing it right now. I'm not saying in every single case hybrids are more than pure. I never said that. It's the exceptional ones no matter what the mix is that command the most money. In those cases does it matter what color it is? No.
This fish isn't even white yet asking price is more than any pure BD I have ever seen.

The same ray over the course of 12months. From the time he was just born, up until just today.

This hybrid cost more than any other pure BDs or pearls here in indonesia. In singapore , malaysia and Phillipines, people are breeding more albino pearls nowadays. The price is crazy, it reaches up to 10,000 USD Or more per pair for those albinos

Last time I checked a Japanese vendor was selling normal BD for 300 to 400 U.S.
Can anyone one confirm that is the going coat for normal pure blacks?

That's my point exactly. the pics you are posting are of "the exceptional ones" , keyword EXCEPTION so of course they're going to cost more than the regular pures. Post pics of their regular run of the mill hybrids. And even in this case, there's no way that this would cost more than the 60k ray you posted before. Why, because this one is not BLACK and WHITE.
