Petsmart caring too much????

I'll have to ask to look at the book the next time I'm in there but I don't think you're correct. The PetSmart I used to work at is VERY close to corporate headquarters and they have watched us feed the fish the usual way without saying anything. And believe me they won't hesitate to say something if they think the employees aren't doing something according to how they want it done. I've read through that book and some of the directions were pretty ridiculous. I hate corporate. They don't care about the proper habitat for the animals. All they care about is selling stuff. The hermit crab habitats are never done right. They are done to encourage people to buy the expensive substrates(calci-sand) even though they are bad for the crabs. But the managers can't try to fix it without risking their jobs.

Maybe the update the books chainwide and have since made a change since August 2007, but I tell you that with all truthfulness. My previous employing company was bought out by Petsmart (All 20 Locations were turned to Petsmart, or shutdown). So for several weeks I was employed by them. Myself and my coworkers had an uproar when we had a meeting to read through this manual. We were also told that if we did not follow the books instructions, then this was not a job for us. So, about a third of the 60 employees left within the month. That store will be closed in the next couple of years.

We were in the same position as the Managers you speak of. Comply or leave.

will im not sure american petsmarts have those. i was visited numerous times by corporate and they would've died if i was feeding the oscars on a daily basis. and the reason is because if you feed every oscar 2 feeders a day, you would use about 100 feeders a day. when a store only gets one shipment of feeders a week in a tank that can only house 400 fish max, you would not make any money of feeders

All Petsmarts have them. Whether or not the store follows them is another question.

lol while on the subject... my co-worker "Tifftastic" sold two oscars for a guys ten gallon because they wanted them so bad

Squared you are terrible . . . I sold the guy those fish cuz he had been in before and refused to believe anything I said, he also told me that he had "another tank" which is doubtful. Plus you are not any better . . . selling 3 mollies, 3 platies, 3 glass fish, 4 male guppies and a pleco to a lady for her 3 gallon unheated tank and letting me do the return.

So dont even talk til you have been there as long as I have, and had as many people yell at you as I have.

Dont go telling stories that are obviously just trying to get people mad at me, you know as well as I do that there are some customers who dont even care what I say "cuz its just a stupid fish" and they are "guppy breeders so they know what they are doing."

Plus its not a good idea to badmouth your superiors, remember I am above you on that totem pole.\

BTW I will check the pnp's tomorrow but I am pretty sure that they changed the BP5 to not require the feeding of live food.

Cool. During the buyout we caused a pretty big uproar. Especially with all the live feeding snakes that we had in stock chainwide, and Petsmart at the time did not. I have recently seen that more Petsmarts are now carrying Snakes and frozen mice.

Ya we just recently started carrying snakes. Only allowed to feed frozen foods, the bad thing is the largest frozen we can order in for store use is fuzzies and our ball python would much prefer a mouse.
