Petsmart dirty secret?

Why is it always cruelty to mammals or some other fluffy or cute pet? Why not lament cruelty to fish? The next time you get fish from your lfs, test the water for nitrates.

WOW, i can not stop laughing, i can see it now. "can a get a water test." lfs employee. " sure where is your water" "no, i mean your water" i might have to do this just to see the look on there faces.

That video makes an overarching statement that tries to lead you to believe that all animals bred for the pet industry are treated this way. This isn't really true because the pet industry is more than just the chain retailers.

While some people do things like this not all of them do it. The companies that do treat animals like this need to be shut down.

i hate peta

when was there last video on pigs suffering ? pigs have been shown to be highly smart i read somewhere they even feel depression why is there no peta protests about that ? because peta would get less publicaty that way ,hundreads of chickens die a day in battery farms but i suppose since there not cute and furry we should not care

we must be one of the leading peta hating sites on the net :headbang2

Yeah guys, I hate peta too. People trying to make an animal's life better? How dare they!

(Ok sarcasm aside)
Even if their methods/tactics aren't the best, atleast they are fighting for a noble cause...

no there not peta has a hole hidden agenda , there run by a few mentaly unstable animal lovers capatalising on the stupidity of the weak minded to make money :grinno:

There are a lot of problems with this. One is that modern PETA members seem to not care about what PETA used to be. They only get out there and protest and send out shock fliers and videos. They are *******s. And so is Ingrid Newkirk. It's not entirely her fault though, as she is now in charge of a huge organization and doesn't have all of the power. At least she's got the good intentions. Heck, she even cares about fish and lobsters as much as the rest. I used to support them because I am a vegetarian (and it's for every reason under the sun, so you know). I had no idea how they went about doing their business until about 4 years ago. People have a right to eat meat and all, if they so choose, and I think it's wrong to try and change their minds the way PETA does. I don't even really care if people eat meat - it's not up to me (it's the cruelty that bothers me). So **** PETA.
They had good intentions (and I hope they still do), but at the end of the day, good intentions don't amount to much.

And as for PETsMART, well, I work for them. I also happen to work at one that employs people who actually care a lot about all animals and do whatever is necessary to keep them healthy. At the location I work at, we treat all of the animals like our own pets until someone wants to take one home. We have all signed contracts in which we swore to do whatever is necessary (and pay whatever vet bills may come up) to ensure the wellbeing of the animals in our store. Most of the people at my location also regularly deal with kids who insist on having something we know they aren't able/willing to properly care for, and often steer them towards something that is more for them. If there is a problem animal (behavioral problems or deformed or anything like that), one of the employees adopts it.

The only real problem is the large scale animal suppliers. They are always a problem. They just don't care, and sometimes they employ some sick ***holes, but that has nothing to do with the individual PETsMART stores because, as anyone who has ever worked in retail knows, the most power the store manager has is to be able to open and close the store.

So, I guess I just needed to say all that, and most importantly, if I see anyone with PETA propaganda at my PETsMART, I will kindly ask them to leave or enthusiastically kick their ass for their ignorance and direct them towards the corporate headquarters.

Oh, and at my store, our chemical levels are great, but the water is pretty alkaline and very hard (that's just twin cities water).
