Okay this is a opportunity so wake up. Open a Fish store (fish only) as close if not next door to a Petsmart & you will do well.
I opened a second store right across the street & they send many customers are way all the time!!! Employees from there have came to both of my stores One 1/2 hour or more & spent a $100 at a time. This department is not their main focus as it is obvious. They are stuck in a corporate way of life & dictated by some ceo or board of directors that most likely do not know jack about fish. I have know many in this industry that even have worked in the corporate of the Pet box stores & herd horror stories.
It does not cost an arm & a leg to open a shop if done right & you do not need some giant store with a lot of overhead. 1500 sqft can do decent but you may not get rich but make a living do something you enjoy but it is a lot of work & not really a hobby no more.
