ah another petsmart threadi work at Petsmart and totally agree with all of yall. i the only person who knows anything about fish. they wont hire ppl for knowledge just hire whomever for no reason and they dont even wanna learn. i try to do my best to may sure ppl are satisfied. i will admit though alot of ppl wont listen to you and take your advice no matter what you say. i pissed at my work now i been there over 1.5 years and they wont make me full time bc they can hire somebody know dont know **** for cheaper.
I have to say, traverse city has lost all of its local fish stores and petsmart is mucho terrible. but on the other hand, meijers has recently added more tanks and i have yet to see and sickly, ick ridden fish and the one man who always helps me there is quite knowledgeable and I have even talked to him for over half an hour just about how he has spawned some of the fish they get in such as cories and different tetras.
dont get me started on meijers. there tanks LITERALLy have more dead fish than live ones. next time i go there, ill be sure to take some picsmaxcow;4843426; said:

What a lot of people on here don't understand is 95% of the people who are customers at petsmart are absolutely oblivious about what they're doing, don't care how to do it the right way, and half of them don't speak english and sit there pointing to get specific feeder goldfish that are doomed to die in a bowl.
I can truly say it is great when you can run across a customer with a passion for the hobby who actually knows what they're talking about. So just think about it, unless somebody at a petsmart is rude to you or does something really wrong or gives awful advice, just try having a conversation about fish, one of two things will happen. 1) they won't know anything and it'll be a short talk, 2) it'll actually be somebody with some passion and if they DON'T know a lot, you can teach them. A lot of time people will take the advice given from a knowledgable customer if they aren't the brightest in the area to start with.
just yesterday i had a 30 minute conversation with a lady about her discus tank, definitely gives highlights during the day. Beats the hell out of people who use their children as translators to get individual feeders.
