Pics from the ACe cuda tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have allways been curious about the almond leaves. I have done some reading about them in the past. They are said to have a antifungal property that is second to no med. I just can't get over the price for some leaves, lol. But then I will pay a hundred bucks on meds. LOL

My tanks ph are all around 7.8-8 and that is tap as well.

And the maracyn 1 and 2 are my favorites because maracyn2 is a group of broad spectrum antibiotics and not just one. And maracyn one antibac treats different bacteria than maracyn2. Thats why I have allways used both together just to take any guess work out of it. There are lots of antibiotics out there for fish. Maracyn products are just popular and readily availiable to me.

Good luck man I hope that last one makes it.

I have horrible news, the last one kicked rocks. :(

I can not believe this. I more feel bad that I let a bunch of unique, rare, awesome, amazon monsters die... There are still 2 yellow tails there now, but I do not think I have the confidence right now....

But I think I will start a thread so we can try and learn some more tips on these guys,

By the way online at liveaquaria they have blackwater extract by tetra in the yellow bottle. for less than 5 dollars you can treat 250 gallons, * Freshwater conditioner helps replicate natural blackwater environment * Contains trace elements, vitamins, and extract of peat to promote fish health * Excellent water conditioner for soft water fish including angelfish, discus, and tetras

Peat-extract formula replicates the clear, Amazon-type blackwater conditions in the home aquarium. Blackwater Extract contains trace elements and vitamins to promote fish activity levels. It creates an environment similar to parts of the Amazon River and other natural blackwater biotopes. Great for discus, angelfish, tetras, and killifish. For freshwater aquariums. 8.45 fl oz treats 250 gallons

Damn dude sorry to hear it. Beleive me I have been there before many times with these fish. My suggestion to you would be to get all the meds I have listed here and a nice hospital tank. And get the other 2 and treat them right away before any signs of disease are ever noticed.

I truely beleive that is the secret to my success with these fish. Out of the 10 times I have tried to keep them this time is the only time that has worked out. And this is the only time that i did not waste any time before treatment.

I brought my fish home and drip acclimated them for a hour from a med laidened tank and then dumped them in and keep them medicated for the first week with just the jungle labs fungus clear. And that worked for all of them except my red tail. Which got tail rot anyway. And then it took real antibiotics to heal him up.

also one thing that I have forgotten to tell you is when I picked the guys up, they had just came in from my local stores supplier and they were still bagged from the shipper. And the water they came in was blue. To me this indicated a medication that they had been shipped in. I believe it was methylene blue. Which is a anti fungal as well as a oxygenator.

Ok thanks, I think I will get the meds and the other 2 today or monday.

Good ideas on the thread, with the advise for new keepers I like that. I just hope it takes off a little more. And just go ahead and put your ideas on it unless you already have. Dont hold back, I want this to take off as much as you do. I really like how it is turning out, I dont think I should fill out my info having lost them all. haha.

What do you think about that blackwater stuff, probally just crap?

If you want give the black water a try. It sounds like a great all natural anti fungal. If they had it at a local shop I would have allready picked it up.

And even though you had some trouble with your first batch. If it were me i would go ahead and fill one out. After all I think the thread is for all info not just the good stories. Because I would bet that most people that have tried to keep them have lost them in the process. And that kind of info needs to be in there as well. Of course that is just my opinion and its up to you.

Me and the wife are going on a mini vacation to newport aquarium in OHIO middle of this week. And the first day will be the aquarium and gambling boat. AND then :naughty: the second day will be ohio LFS day. We are planning to hit 3-4 spots around the cincinnati area. And according to there web site one of them has Yellow tails in stock.:headbang2So if everything works out I am bringing home 2-3 more cuda's on friday. I am a little nervous about having them bagged up for a 2.5 hour plus car ride. But I keep telling myself they are bagged up alot longer than that while shipping.

I would much rather have 3 more reds cause i have 3 yellows and 1 red now. But I am a ACE ADDICT and i know if i walk into a lfs with my pocket full of vacation cash and they have cuda's or payara. Then i am bringing home something.

So wish me luck:popcorn:where not leaving until late wednesday but i am siked.

Ill fill out a fourm after I eat tonight even though mine died. And I will fill out a fourm called by the books, I got all the information from every site that had water conditions and I think I found a tip all the online websites that give water conditions say 6.5 to 7.0. A

ll the people that filled out fourms that have barracudas doing good the ph is around 7 and lower.(except yourS) My friend got 3 cudas from the last batch and 2 lived, he has 2 FAT yellow tails and his ph is 7 or high 6's. I talked to the pet store owner and he can get the cudas from 3 people and all 3 get them from a seller in peru. where the ph is 7. It is just stuck in my head that doing this will make them acclimate faster. I will have the next batch next tuesday.

DO IT:headbang2 Get some more, of course they will be fine on the drive back;).
I am going to call cincinniti area and having them order mass amouts of H. Tats and Aces .

Good luck have a good time and charge that camera battery!!!!

P.S. Can not wait to see the new cudas in your tank acculmating

Back from cincy and no new tank mates :(.

I went to the best 2 lfs's in the area recommended by a few local people and they were nice places. Just did not have what I desperately needed. lol

O thats to bad, I was looking foward to some pics.

NEXT TIME!!!!! Good luck with the badass fish you got, get them in that 125.
