Hi all, I don’t know if there is actually a thread with every pike cichlid featuring a photo of juveniles and adults with a fact sheet. I seen one on here that was a poster, thanks for that but the thread died. If anyone knows of another one are if we can start one that turns into a sticky that would be great. Thanks.

The Cichlid Room Companion (Cichlidae.com ) has pics for
16 of the Lugubria, species
47 Crenicichla (and a few undescribed species)
24 species of Saxatlia,
and 8 of the genus Wallaciia.
You can access the site by joining the AmericanCichlid Assn.
It is one of the most up to date sites , for all cichlids world wide (including but not limiled to pike cichlids)
In many cases showing not only the species, but habitat shots, and locations etc etc

Just use a translator or klick on "Arten" = species

Because in the states, and now here in where I now live in Panama, hiad (and have) very hard , high pH water, so I avoided keeping any from the soft , low pH waters of of northern S America.
Was successful in keeping, Crenicichla ¨belly crawler¨

But more successful in keeping those species Ken Davis brough back on one of hiis collecting trips to Uruaguay, where the pike cichlids are more adapted to diverse and less stringent water parameters.

BTW which ones are more adaptable?
Since I had hard, higher pH water in the states (pH 7.6 or higher, and a hardness of 250 mg/L), the Uruguayan species were much more adaptable to my conditions.
I was able to keep a number of Uruguayans in that water,

With that water however, I had a much harder time, trying to keep those northern S American species healthy, unless I supoplimented my tap water with rain water, and lowered pH.
I did I have a rain water collection system, which barely covered the water changes for 1 soft water tank.
