i should also say that you don't have to use a sponge filter, but they are the cheapest option if you don't already have a filter. an hob would work just fine, just make sure that you cover the intake with either a sponge or a piece of pantyhose held on with a rubberband (that's what i use on the intake of my ac20 on my cherry shrimp tank).

I'm glad you mentioned that because i was just thinkin about the filter on the drive home. I'll go with that since the tank came with a HOB filter.

Thanks

It would be a good idea to toss some java moss into the tank as well. You can also keep the glass shrimp with the red cherry shrimps and breed both in the same tank to save on some space. They eat the stuff that will grow on the java moss and the moss gives the shrimps a sense of security so they will breed faster for you.

no problem man... just make sure you put some stuff in the tank to help break up the current a bit so they aren't getting pushed all over the tank.

Stuff as in plants or stuff as in drift wood?

Bought a heater that's pre set for only one temperature without even realizing it. That set me back a day. I put some driftwood in and some fake plants for now. Should be able to load up the tank tomorrow

i didn't even realize they sold heaters like that... shows how much i know.

sounds like you've got the ball rollin now... let me know if you need any java moss to get started, i got a ton and i need to thin things out a bit.

Neither did I. I just grabbed the cheapest on the shelf, stuck it in, plugged it in and figured i'd adjust it once i saw the temp it was pre set on. Couldn't find anything to adjust it so i grabbed the box and directions. lol, keeps your tank at 78 degrees. Nothin about additional temps

i'm bad at guessing when things are that small, but i would say they average around an inch or so
