Pitbull Plecos, anyone have them?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
They are pretty inexpensive. My long fins were around $6 each as juveniles. They do a great job on algae, most types.

Sorry for the repeats, haven't been on this site for about a year. Still getting used to it again.
I don't have any actual driftwood as decoration, and all my plants are plastic. I have an absolute black thumb with any type of plant.

Eventually will be set up with Electric Blue Acaras, maybe a couple Raphael cats, and a small pleco. If the cories don't get eaten, they can stay. I know the zebra danios will be snacked on.

to give you an idea today I bought 5x 2" green dragon bristlenose for $20 and a breeding pair of calico/super red crosses. If you want to get expensive you can go with the very hard to find long fin super reds

The reason I asked about plants is that some pleco's will eat them. Usually the cooler looking the pleco -the more likely they're a dirty plant destroyer. All pleco's like driftwood you might want to drop at least a small piece in. They chew small amounts and it helps in their digestion. Clown Pleco's are another cheaper option they're tough and interesting to look at- Blue and Green Phantoms are getting more affordable (really cool looking pleco's) I've also seen brown zebra plecos going at decent prices.

Meant to say brushy nose Pleco, typing error
Bristlenose and bushynose are the same thing.

While Zebras are nice, they are still one of the higher priced plecos and they are not for beginners. My personally experience with clowns is that they are very lazy.

The place I live doesn't have many fish stores. I don't know how to get something like the green dragons or calico/ reds. I have seen pictures of them. Do they stay a reasonable size?

I probably would have to special order and the only places I can special order are expensive. Mostly Pet Supplies Plus and Petsmart here. They killed all the good lfs.
