Only had 14 left of fry. No blues or golds from my "survival of the fittest" group. Parents then started laying more eggs so i pulled fry and placed them to guppy tank.

New fry got pulled. A couple hundred. Free swimming in 10 gal snail tank. Hopefully i got some blues in this batch or its time to switch parents.

Ya, survival of the fittest won't work. The phenotypically normal ones will outgrow and outcompete the EBJDs. At about 3-4 weeks, you'll start to be able to tell them apart, and you'll want to separate them.

Great pics! Good luck with this new batch!

The first batch laid eggs and have a few fry still swimming around in their tank, I decided that I need to concentrate on the grow outs so I know what the parents are. I also have been building a waterproof fishroom to store all of my tanks. The basement is finished so I need to prevent leaks.

Congrats on the batch keep us posted on the mix of genotypes.

Finally working on moving the fish into the room. I have 3 40gallon breeders coming from a friend in my local aquarium club. I'll probably get three more tens and a couple more 20's for grow outs. Having a room at is dedicated to fish will allow me to really take a run at this attempt again. The platinums are in a 55 with one potentially blue gene female and some bristle nose plecos. The don't seam to be as slow growing as the blues but it's still extremely slow. These guys are on the same schedule as my discus for water changes so there's no reason that they shouldn't be growing much more rapidly.

I started a thread in the diy section. The inside is still a major work in progress. There will be an addition of several tanks, most will be bare bottoms but I may do some aquascaping on a few of the smaller tanks that will house a few dwarf chichlids or maybe just shrimp. The main portion of the room will be to breed discus and attempt the platinums.

I do have an RO filter that connects to the faucet... it feels like it take an eternity to fill but it works. And I've had four since February and I picked up a breeding pair of red melons for a great deal about a month ago. So we will see if that works out.
