PLEASE HELP FLOWERHORN PROBLEM

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
He may not be "sick" but rather just overly stressed and possibly having a very hard time breathing.

I think you need to keep doing BIG 75% water changes daily. I think you need keep feedings to a minimum (once ever third day and only a bit). reducing your stock is not a bad idea either.

Don't fret about planaria right now, its not an issue. just means your tank is a mess.

The two biggest factors that is going to help you is keep up with water changes and get the tank temp down to mid 70's with a max of 77f. get a lot of air stones going and tones of surface agitation going.

I feel like I am repeating myself in my posts but you need to read all my posts and keep doing these things I am suggesting.

As far as medication, i think its going to do more harm than good for a few reasons. No one here and yourself included knows of any diseases that your fish may or may not have. There doesn't appear to be any obvious parasites on his body or gills right? no grey patches? no hole in head? no cloudy eyes? no pop eye? no stringy poops or sunken bellies?

If you cannot PROPERLY diagnose your fish with a disease you should NOT medicate. He is suffering but like I said i don't think its sick but rather stressed from poor environment.

ok so checklist:
- air stones
- seachem prime for water changes
- get temps to 75-77f
- daily water changes about 75%
- check water parameters daily till nitrates are right down 5-10ppm or lower
- feed every third day
- keep lights on for a max of 6-7 hours to not further create stress
- vacuum the substrate well
- clean your filter but REUSE the sponges and media (clean with old tank water only)
- no meds

Just thought of this and not sure if it has been discuss in here yet. What about bullying? are other fish picking on him? how about providing a big flower pot for him to hide in? couldn't hurt!

No damaged grillz, or cloudy or droppy eyes. Everything normal. And he breathes normal too, just sitting in there...

Maybe I better get one more fx6? Maybe my eheim and fluval fx6 not enough?

I will. You think my Humphead FH will make it ? He is sick and I don't know what's up with him. He is sitting there all day. While other fish seems to act as usual..
Like Phil said I don't think he is necessarily "sick" but he definitely is stressed. And it's almost definitely the high nitrates combined with the high temperature (lack of oxygen). My fish did the same thing when I added a chemical too my tank, which hurt my BB colony causing a spike to .5ppm of ammonia. She turned from orange and white to almost completely white and stayed behind the flowerpot for 3 days straight. She also gets stressed when I use my magfloat to try and clean the glass of the tank.

You need to do larger water changes every day to get the nitrates down to 40ppm or lower. And don't ever let the temperature go higher than 78 (82 pushing it) unless you treating ich.

Thank to all. My nitrates is 0 now. TEsted it twice. TEmp isi81
Dropping. I added more air stones he is not aggressive as before

0 nitrates has me a bit concerned. Only because that's very rare to have.

Is he perking up at all? Can you get the temps lower? Maybe do a water change like with 79 f water
Ok doing another test. At this very moment. He is swimming thats all. But not picking on anyone as he used to..
test seems 20-40 ppm
