I understand the concept of feeders, but in my past experience the feeders I got were a lot smaller than the other mates....I still have my old oscar from that tank set up (everyone since then either died or gave away..pacus). He developed a taste for small /medium goldfish. But, that was years ago and hasn't eaten any of the smaller fish since....just a treat for him I guess.

I'm guessing I'm stearing away from getting it now....Plus, I'd be too afraid of him eating my oscar, or marbled pim some time down the road....

Thanks for all the responses. I know this topic has been brought up many times. THis type of hybrid is captivating, and my lfs has one.....I"m trying to learn to let go of impulse buying....

Mine has eaten a 13" oscar before. I've fed it a whole tilapia which he took down no problem. Still has a few smaller tankmates for now, but who knows how long they will last. He's 38" and will be going into a 4000 gal in the next few months.

If you are unsure about getting it , I would say don't do it ,,,yet. If you are moving in the future you will have a project to look forward to after the new place is all settled.

Build a nice indoor pond and get your big cats and when you go to the grocery store have your list and one for the fish..

very good idea. I was kinda starting to think that. Esp since who knows how big the fish I have now will be by that point

I WILL have rtcXtsn someday

I have a small Lima Shovelnose, and it loves freeze-dried bloodworms/brine shrimp/earthworms. Don't have any experience with a TSN though...

My lima is fat, and eats a handfull of shrimp itself every day!:nilly: Doesn't have much to do with this hybrid though. Will be cool when I finally hybridize a Jau x Lima though!

well, I just wanted to say that I had to run out today to my lfs to get stuff for the sump tank. I've done soooo much reading on the hybrid....and

I brought the lil' guy home!! The girl fed the tank shrimp pellets to show me he would eat regular food as I'm not doing live. Also said I can return him within a week if he doesn't work out (someone goes missing).

Hopefully all goes well. I'll put up a post within the next couple days

I couldn't help it....fell in love the moment I saw him, and several months ago when I first learned of them....
