Please tell why NOT

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Pond here would be pretty cheap, kiddy pool would do it, or one of those big plastic tub like things, with alot of insulation around.

What would be expensive would be keaping it warm here in the UK, the electric bill would be truely monster :D

My advice would have been to leave the monster at the store unless you are able to take care of it for life. Apparently we failed at convincing you to avoid the impulse buy.

My new advice is to put $300 a month into a high yield savings account so that in a year or two when your cute little cat has turned into a monster you have enough cash to buy a tank big enough for your fish to turn around in. Feeding the beast will also get expensive.

If you were referring to my post, I'm not sure what calendar you use, but June 2007 comes before September 2007. :screwy:

I agree that a pond is a cheaper alternative that is worth looking into. IMHO, looking down on a fish isn't as cool as the side view, but again, that's just my opinion.

Ok...2007??? :WTF:? Did you have something to do with dates in your first post?...:screwy::grinno:

I have no idea what you're talking about. What you wrote makes no sense.

I was just saying that if you're calling me a Noob, then that's a little ironic since I've been a member of this site for longer than you have and I've been keeping fish for 20+ years.

Look who's overreacting now? :owned:

If you want to discuss this further, send me a PM. I don't like derailing threads for no reason.

Back to the purpose of the thread, I think when you buy a living creature, you should be able to provide an adequate environment for it's entire life...otherwise you shouldn't buy it. You always hear of "plans" to buy a larger tank down the road, but how many times have you seen a monster fish in a tiny tank up for sale or for adoption. It's sad.

 No I never over reacted simply had NO Clue what you were talking about... Now that I do... Your still a noob :p 30 years under my belt and I'll be a noob till the day i die... I'll never learn enough and I am happy to admit it, Your advice wasn't wrong and I never stated it was... Simply stated that it's an over reaction since I don't believe there was any comments as to how to finance a new tank... yet ;)

nice congrats on the purchase. Still no pics?!

oh boy....I've been a little busy as I found it a lil' amusing reading this thread. I WILL get a pic up of him. It's hard though cuz he has a good hiding spot. He's a nice bugger......

and for getting a bigger home for life for him...yes, we DO plan on it. We agreed that if we're still at the place we're at now, we'll build an indoor garage pond for him

I will most likely need an indoor pond for him and my marbled pim within the next 1 1/2 yrs.

I"m not so much as an impulse buyer, but this species captivated my interest, and I did my homework for quite awhile

As for me "adopting" a creature for life....I haven't been on this site because my 11 year old older dog developed diabetes and have been treating her. My family wanted me to put her down because of the cost and time involved, but I FIRMLY believe that no matter what creature you adopt, it's part of your family and your care....

So, yes, I will care for my rtcXtsn for LIFE

As for me mentioning about my LFS saying I could return him, they weren't for sure if he was only eating live food as they put goldfish feeders in the tank for everyone. I do NOT feed live fish to my tanks.

And as for Easter BUnny eating my camara.....that's about when my older dog lost her bladder control and got sick with diabetes and had to care for her around the clock.

Hope this clarifies some issues....and I do love my new lil' monster! He only eats frozen krill, so works out well in our tank

If those small pictus cats are still in the tank with the Marbled Pim and that is the tank the RTCxTSN will go into I would guess they will become lunch for one or the other. I have both and both have grown from 3" to well over 18" in about 6 months. I currently have them housed in a 185 gallon tank but they will soon be transported to the 1100 gallon swimming pool / pond in my garage. They are both great fish and very personable and in fact my RTCxTSN will come up to me to be petted at times. I also have a dog that has issues (paralyzied from the waist down) and wish you the best for you and your pet...

some not so good pics taken the other week...couldn't find my cable for the camara/computer
