My lima is fat, and eats a handfull of shrimp itself every day!:nilly: Doesn't have much to do with this hybrid though. Will be cool when I finally hybridize a Jau x Lima though!

well, I just wanted to say that I had to run out today to my lfs to get stuff for the sump tank. I've done soooo much reading on the hybrid....and

I brought the lil' guy home!! The girl fed the tank shrimp pellets to show me he would eat regular food as I'm not doing live. Also said I can return him within a week if he doesn't work out (someone goes missing).

Hopefully all goes well. I'll put up a post within the next couple days

I couldn't help it....fell in love the moment I saw him, and several months ago when I first learned of them....
Welcome to the ranks of owning a True Monster fish  My vote is still that you let your impulse control your purchase but at least you have put in more thought than MOST people out there AND you have a 265 which is more than MOST of the knuckle heads that buy these fish have.

i want a lima shovelnose so bad!!! they have one at my LFS and it's been there for for as long as i can remember. he's super cute but i dont have the tank room atm. i wish i had a pond, but then my cat would go swimming in it :p

My two Limas, same age from the same shipment but ones twice the size oif the other.

Crap picture I know, but I suck at photography.

My advice would have been to leave the monster at the store unless you are able to take care of it for life. Apparently we failed at convincing you to avoid the impulse buy.

My new advice is to put $300 a month into a high yield savings account so that in a year or two when your cute little cat has turned into a monster you have enough cash to buy a tank big enough for your fish to turn around in. Feeding the beast will also get expensive.

Awwww... noobs are so cute when they over react.. :grinno:

Simple Ponds are cheap to build... we make them expensive by adding side viewing... you could basically box in a room with a liner and it would be cheap and the fish would be very happy in there... just try to figure out adding a window into it without bumping the price thats the problem :irked:

If you were referring to my post, I'm not sure what calendar you use, but June 2007 comes before September 2007. :screwy:

I agree that a pond is a cheaper alternative that is worth looking into. IMHO, looking down on a fish isn't as cool as the side view, but again, that's just my opinion.
