Wow some of the information here is awful. but yet some of it is absolutely correct
They are not toxic at all. Fruit flies do not always end up flying. Mixing is not a good idea. Inbreeding will get your oustest from the frogger community quicker that you can say hybrid. Mixing frogs causes agression issues. I see no need to mix to make yourself feel better but harm the frogs.
A 40 gal is way way too small to even think of mixing.
Most of my tincs, leucs, tricolors, etc are all in horizonal tanks. All of my pumilos and thumbnails are in vertical tanks.
Culturing fruit flies is actually pretty simple. I make a decent amount of cultures a week. The problem with fruit flies is eventually you will have a crash ( in 6 years it has happened twice) and crahses sucks. You go to feed the frogs and have nothing but dead flies. Most pet stores do not sell fruit flies and if they do they are a small fortune. There is always mail order but you better hope that you have fed your frogs well enough they can go with out food for a few day or more if it is the weekend.
Dont jump into dart frogs with out atleast a few months of research. I seen some of the questions you have asked and you are no where near ready.
And do not take the advice of a guy who owns/ runs a large petstore. he wants money and nothing else. If he tells you to mix that is because he will happily sell you new ones in a few months when the first ones die.
I am no expert by any means but I have been doing this for a few years. I might just know a thing or two.
