Open as in not exclusive. And Near Toronto, ish.

I can't speak for every fish club, but CCA (Capital Cichlid Association - www.capitalcichlids.org) is about as open as they come. You don't even need to be a member to come to meetings, buy at the auctions, eat the free food at meetings, etc. Not that joining and supporting the club isn't appreciated (and it's a not-for-profit...so any money goes toward bringing in out-of-town speakers, club programs, etc.).

There are bunches of clubs in and around Toronto. I think I posted a link earlier, but here's a good start:

I like the way CCA sounds, and if "groups" want speakers and stuff you just have a meeting and be like, hey we can get this guy to come in if we all chip in 10$

that way people who cant make it to that meeting, or dont want to...dont feel like the club basically stole his money.
