Frank Castle , the Krill im feeding them is called Tetra Krill-E (the one pictured here)

The funny thing is they market it as Arctic Krill in Chinese / Japanese... So not sure if it actually is different to the Tetra Jumbo Krill that 888Fish recommended i try...

idk if mine is jumbo......they range in size from probably 1/4" to 1" (if fully extended), then the bottom of the can is powdery legs and antennae and eyeballs and stuff lol .......says 60% crude protein

Frank Castle , sounds about the same as mine with the 60% Crude Protien...

As you can see on the tin, its actually labeled as Jumbo Krill, and not Krill-E like the one i have

^ thats interesting, and also makes me wonder why Tetra has so many types of what looks to be the same product packaged in so many different ways + names???

But mine says the same thing about being protein rich as well...

Anyway... Some other good news, while 3 of my eels werent hungry today, the greedy one decided he will eat Hikari Carni Sticks!!!

So at least one now recognizes whats at the end of my tongs as food... Now i just have to watch my fingers when feeding the others lol...

I believe they lunge at the mixture of floating food based on smell. So sometimes it's Krill, sometimes a pellet. If they don't like it, they will split it out. But, they do appear to enjoy the carnisticks as well as the krill. That's why I recommended to just do a mixture. It'll be ok, the rest of your fish will clean up.

^ Originally none of mine accepted carni sticks, it was only last night when i tried feeding one of them surprisingly ate it... so tonight will try again since 3 of the 4 eels did not eat last night..

How often is everyone feeding their G. Polys? My 4 are very inconsistent at feeding time. Sometimes they gorge themselves, sometimes eat a little, sometimes ignore food altogether. Maybe they just don't need to be fed daily? Cuz, the SW species only get fed 3-4/week or every other day as the forums suggest.

^ as i think i previously mentioned in one of these threads, after doing as much research as i could, it seems that feeding them everyday is not actually a good idea... The reason being that if fed everyday, they could get fat buildups in their head which ultimately causes health problems for the eels...

Since reading that, i've been feeding my eels every 2-4 days depending how much they eat per meal. Its also because of this that i've stuck to hand feeding to ensure the one that loves gorging himself doesnt eat all the food before the others even get a chance...

I also read that if they eat too much, at some stage during the day they may regurgitate part of the meal, which will naturally cause water quality problems if all of them do it...

Mine gorge themselves 1-2X per week......food goes quick whe the scent hits the water....G.tiles are very aggressive feeders from what I have seen

Now I just gotta find some Mayans, a REAL Texas or 2, a few more JDs and Brasiliensis and I'll start the Brackish conversion

Mine are up to 65% more fish fillet and clams per feeding now, voracious as hell and I just soaked 16 of the biggest Jumbo Krill I could find in hot water for a few hours , then dumped it in their tank and they ate ALL of them. Came to the surface and all. Gonna try mixing some pellets in next time. They're getting really thick very quickly. Fat Homer
