Lionfish are cool. I used to own one about 10" but I guess they really are a delicacy because my reticulated moray killed him tore off his spines and ate him like it was the best meal he ever had!

They are becoming an evasive species and ruining species in the reef. They are one of my favorite fish and they are awesome. But its the same as hunting deer and pheasants. You have to keep then under control or there will be no stopping them.

Agree 100%. Kanta is right. Even with people catching and eating them they still probably won't go away completely but it will really help control them and help save the reefs in Florida.

if the government wont run an operation that causes a deficit in order to get less money then what is wasted please explain these bad operations that wasted money for nothing. ex. the country's trillions in deficit, the cash for clunkers program, all the heath care plans... i could go on all night. mean while all the presidents like obama for example are "spending the holidays overseas" "on vacation in HI" Hillary is looking at poor kids in africa then goes to enjoy a 5 star hotel and 5 course meal. do the math

I was more referring to efforts to preserve or conserve the environment such as fishing licenses which help to pay for studies that benefit the environment. The money that we spend on fishing licenses goes to fund studies to that determine how many of what species we can harvest without terribly depleting them.

I will not deny that the government definitely did waste plenty of money on the bad operations that you mentioned (and many other bad operations).

Any who, further discussion of governmental spending problems will derail this thread more, so I'll leave it at that.

Be sure to expose it to nuclear radiation first so that it mutates into a giant mutant snakehead capable of living both in water and on land that will then go take on Godzilla in Tokyo. :grinno:

it is all a %. a percent goes to what it is designated for, yet they want to ban hunting/fishing in some states. go figure.

I believe that some of that may be attributed to PETA and other radical organizations putting pressure on the government through lobbyists and such.

Food does tend to taste better when you get it yourself (hunting and fishing included). I do rather enjoy both hunting and fishing, and I see no problem with responsible harvests of fish and game.

not only that it tastes better, but you know it was killed cleanly, cleaned properly/ in a timely manner and that it is 100% natural free ranging animals. not that hormone infested crap they have at the store.
