I believe that some of that may be attributed to PETA and other radical organizations putting pressure on the government through lobbyists and such.

It's more likely right wing propaganda, to get non millionares and fundies to vote Republican. PETA is laughed at by all but silly vegans, and you guys. Right wing fundraising outfits laugh loudest of all as they shamelessly exploit your fears for donations. Same goes for Greenpeace. Most conservation groups are on your/our side as far as hunting and fishing are concerned.

www.saltwaterfish.com has done something that I thought was a good idea from the very start, and until yesterday was unaware that it was being done by anyone.

Collection of atlantic lionfish for distribution. I dont think they have any pterois volitans that arent from the atlantic. Pretty cool.

Hmm... Maybe a temporary ban on the importation of this specific species of lionfish from other locales other than the Atlantic Ocean would help to increase their harvest?

I think the USA shouldnt allow importation of lions from anywhere but the atlantic. I thought it would make the price rise, but www.saltwaterfish.com 's are fairly reasonably priced I feel.

I find it funny that such a prominent species is so expensive in the first place, whats next? 50 dollar + oscars??

they will not run an operation that causes a deficit in order to get less money that what is wasted, especially in a case such as this.

That is untill a senator/congresman/woman or their brother/sister in law or son or daughter starts a lion fish harvesting company, then they will get a multi billion dollar contract to "save the oceans" over night.

oh how often I at the right vs. left arguement. I have nothing but respect for the man/woman who has a idelogical and or political view that they stand by. However I honestly pitty those who think the US gov has not or will not continue to put on a WWF smackdown show for CSPAN spouting lines that they know their constituancy wants to hear. Then go have beers together, swinging back door deals with each other while we the citizens squabble over what we saw on our respective right/left news networks.

Whats wrong with eating the lionfish. They are an invasive species in the Caribbean and Atlantic. They don't have any natural predators in this part of the world . You combine that with the warm waters that they are accustomed to and the florish and outcompete native species. Lionfish are all native to the Indo-Pacific.

Eating lionfish has little to nothing to do with politics. They are here, they eat gamefish, lets eat them first.

I give the same deal to the invasive carp we have, except those are mainly turned into fertilizer.
