Most people dont realise how hard running a LFS is and what may seem to be outrageous prices to some are in fact quite reasonable when running a 7 day a week, 12 hour a day business. Livestock is a risky business that isnt insured.

While there may be cheaper places available, most cheaply priced outlets have gone bankrupt or not lasted. Its amazing how many people want RARE/QUALITY and CHEAP in the same fish or product. I respectfully suggest you simply not buy fish you think are too expensive for you. If someone is buying them then they are not TOO expensive. Besides, you havent seen EXPENSIVE fish until you have come to Australia.

oops hope this doesnt come accross as too critical but thats how I see things.

that's correct.
:clap:clap:clap:clap:clap:clap
if you think that too expensive then dont buy, and leave people alone.
am a seller and i personal tell you this. i purchased a nice azz flowerhorn for $500 thinking to resell for a good price but guess wat. that sucker died within 5 days cause of power out.
run a business. everything is money....... if we get lucky and sell lots of fish. yeah then we making money, but in a bad season then...........:cry::cry::cry:
know what i mean??:naughty::naughty::naughty:
got a question here........... y a parrot fish at petsmart selling for $30 and they only cost $9-$10 online? this is the answer...........they selling cheap so you could have money to pay for the shipping.........hehe just kidding.
oh well good thread.....

dragon danio (actually a long-finned, underfed zebra danio) $9.99

Aust fish prices are expensive as fishdance said.ive seen freshwater stingrays for $1500,Spotted gars $550,Peacock Bass $400,Giant Red tail Gouramis $800 and even our own native Saratoga jardini ive seen $300+ for a large speciman.thats just to name a few.I know a few LFS in aust who have lost over half of their shop to bad chemicals put in our water.that could be a good reason why they charge so much and also our laws are pretty strict as well.
