Anything that cost $5k-$10K better be stunning so that the rich brats can go bragging about how rare and special it is for them to spend so much money on. Personally, that's not my cup of tea. If I have a $10K bichir bichir I know I would bragged about it to make me feeling better about spending $10K on a bichir. I was not directly at AshDavid or anyone. I was directing at anyone who spent $10K or more on a fish.

I only see fish like that at public aquarium exhibits. I wonder how much these guys sell the bichir bichir for before it's shipped oversea to Japan. I also wonder why there is not an abundant #s of these if they're found in Africa. Is someone purposely doing this to preserve the market to keep it from crashing? I remembered back in the days when a lot of fish were hard to get but not anymore.

price is relative, 10k is nothing to some people...I'm not one of them though

i'd rather have both too! and i don't care if it doesn't retain value....i never buy looking to resell. if i can only have one arowana, it'd be a blue base xback or albino xback. i don't think i can choose between these two and i don't think i can choose between a Pbb and xback. good thing where i am i don't have that choice...or is that a bad thing?
the answer you seek is already there. hint: post #22. What i will add here is that where the fish IS found, they shouldn't be that uncommon...after all, locals eat these fish, just like any other native fish.
