Potamotrygon Signata

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Doesnt look the same to me

They do look very similar.. I think the spotting around the edge of the disc and especially on the top of the tail is different.. Also the eye structure, but it might be the angle of the pics..

I would just imagine that if the first ray I posted WAS a Castexi, that it would have been easily distinguished by the 'experts' who wrote the book.. I could be very wrong.

I just want to get to the bottom of 'P. Signata' and see if I can find some solid reference photos..

Hello,

still Castexi Otorongo(just a huge spotted one and there some with only very small spots), and if in your Eyes it looks like Signata or Falkneri something goes wrong ;)
The ray has Otorongo Marking and Castexi tail.
Signata have completly different tail colouration (a long light coloured stripe on the side and small spotts ebough).

And falkneri have different marking (like frank said) and are from completly different location and if u saw thousands of castexi variants before u should have noticed that on the first view.

"AlexG have some of the same quality. "
Thanks but mine are Dark Otorongo with big spots, my light coloured Otorongo is far away from that great big spots.

I think p. signata and p. garrapa are just variants of castexi. Signata could be the falkneri castexi hybrid you read about. With all the variants out there I have come to the conclusion that castexi and motoros are the wh**es of the amazon. Just about every hybrid has a mix of atleast one of them.

That is a beautiful ray... and if it does stay relatively small, that would be even better!
