From what I've read, that is their absolute max size, but they don't often grow past the 10-12" mark. Kind of like how you'll read some articles that will say that lima cats get to 30"+ and others say they only get to around 12-16", ~30" is their maximum, but they very rarely reach that size.iron;4036610; said:Read several articles saying sun cats get to 18" long. Thats to big for a 55 in my opinion.
You would put a fish that could easily grow in excess of 24" in a 55 gallon (which btw is only 13" wide)?joel;4036614; said:you asked for predatory cats. doesn't get much meaner then that. would be the only fish in tank though.

I don't think hoplos are predators.Loves severums;4036642; said:Hoplo Catfishes they get to 8"
don't want to derail thread but in original post growout was mentioned. and i know the dimensions of a 55. the 125 would be more then fine for a fish that doen't move much.drgnfrc13;4036668; said:You would put a fish that could easily grow in excess of 24" in a 55 gallon (which btw is only 13" wide)?![]()
