Problem with bluergill and green sunfish fighting

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Lol im not even going to lie.. i used to catch blue gills and sun fish and keep them :) I put them in a 55 alone when they were about 5 inches. Once they got bigger i rehomed them. I like the shape of your 55 btw dude :) Looks abstract :)

No, this is never a responsible option because of the possibility of spreading disease. It's a real drawback with keeping native fishes...once you bring them home, you keep them- never release them. If you're serious about it, you have to be willing to consider euthanasia if you have no other options.

Welcome by the way!

Ah, I didn't think of it that way as they are housed w/ domestics. Good point. And thanks :)

5 tanks of this mockery of our hobby? How can you look in the mirror? Do you even test your water for pH, ammonia, nitrites and nitrates? And why would you waste money on another tiny tank when you need a pond?

i know, i have a filter with rocks water and waste from another tank running in there

Unless there is a fish in there creating waste, all the bacteria on the filter and rocks from the other tank will be dead with in 24-48 hours. Rather counter productive!

BTw, i am not having trouble with fish getting sick or dying, my only problem was my bluegill and snfish fighting.
This fighting is a direct result of poor fish keeping practices. Those fish need 55-75 gallon tanks for each one! And that fighting will quickly lead to diseased and dying fish.

i usually bring samples in when i buy crickets for my fish whcih is about every week. sometimes every 2-3weeks. BTW, i got my water checked from the carp tank yesterday when i got the tank and it is fine.

Can you define "fine?"

What are your nitrates? Nitrites? and ammonia?
